Missions

What can I do?

You'd be surprised at what you can do!!   If you have a heart for missions, can work well within a team, are patient and have great flexibility in how the day unfolds in terms of expectatians and duties... you are a prime candidate.  As an example, our medical mission teams are composed of roughly 50% medically skilled individuals who are supported by people who may be accountants, home-makers, bankers, ... you get the idea!  Our construction teams boast skilled tradesmen, and those who may have only hammered a nail but wish to contribute and learn at the same time.  Those who join eyeglass teams receive easy to grasp training in order to become a contributing member of the team.  And beside all this, our primary reason is to communicate the love of Christ to those we encounter in the field, perhaps witnessing through an interpreter... perhaps through a smile... and always through a humble attitude.  We always work through a local congregation, and rely upon the pastor and members of the church to continue to develop a relationship with those who we meet during our short stay in their country.

Our primary destinations are Guatemala, Nicaragua, Domincan Republic and Haiti.  The typical trip is 9 days in duration and may include mission work at 1 to 5 sites consecutively, but usually just 2 sites.  MOST Ministries of Ann Arbor handles trip details such as clearly defining the scope of the mission with both our team and the host congregation, housing, food, airline arrangements, in country travel arrangements, necessary insurances, team leadership, securing interpreters, etc.
