When is it?
Sunday, November 25, 2018 6:30 pm in the St. Lorenz School Gym.
What is it?
In the 1970’s, groups began to set aside a few hours to reflect on Jesus and His birth while also sharing beautifully-decorated tables, a dessert, special program and…the glow of candles and friends! Formats vary. Advent by Candlelight has become a priority, a favored tradition, for many. Won’t you join us this year?
Our program always includes song and a message. This year, we’re happy that Carolyn Bira will be sharing some traditional thoughts on Advent: Is there a reason why there are four Advent candles, and that we label them Hope, Love, Joy and Peace? Carolyn’s audiences benefit from her years as a Director of Christian Education and her ability to share spiritual truths in simple ways. She publishes daily devotions online and will be bringing take-home “God With Us” Advent devotions for all who attend
Who can attend?
Our event is offered to ladies high-school age and older. You do not need to be a member of St. Lorenz to attend. Take the opportunity to invite friends or family! Because of limited seating, reservations are required. Please click the Guest Signup link to save your seat! You will receive a confirmation of your reservation, usually within a day.
Who can host? How does that work?
Anybody willing and able! As a hostess, you set a banquet table (8 seats, including your seat) and provide dessert for those at your table. You may do this on your own or share the responsibility with a friend. You may invite ladies to sit at your table, or allow the seats to be filled via the sign-up process. Fancy tablecloth and dishes? Wonderful! Paper products and plastic silverware? That’s fine, too! Click on Hostess Guidelines for more details.
Hostesses can set their tables any time after 1:30 Sunday afternoon.
Please use the Hostess Signup link to reserve your table! We’ll let you know we received your reservation. Thank You for volunteering!
How much are tickets?
This is a free event and we love to fill the gym! Bring a friend! We do accept cash donations at the door for young adults in Bay County who have “aged out” of foster care. Many of these youth are struggling on their own to attend school, work or set up a household. There is no obligation to donate.
