We are able to eliminate the stress of trying to find affordable rides for important appointments with our Care-A-Van ministry. We serve members of the congregation and community who need transportation to and from Worship, medical appointments, and other important appointments. We are in need of volunteers who have a valid drivers license, dependable transportation, pass a criminal background check, and be willing to transport members without compensation within Saginaw County. For more information about volunteering or getting a ride please email Arleen Cronk or call her at 989.274.5253
Bethesda Thrift Shop
Bethesda’s Saginaw Thrift Shop is one of 20 stores across the country that are owned and operated by Bethesda Lutheran Communities. All profits support Bethesda. The stores are run primarily by volunteers from many churches. St. Lorenz volunteers typically work the first Friday of each month as cashiers, sorters and general retail positions. It’s a fun way to help while getting to know others. If you are interested please contact Ruth Mauer at 989.652.2243.
The Clothesline Thrift Store
We take donated clothing, sort, display, and sell at very reasonable prices. All proceeds go to various charities. All help is volunteer, and volunteers sign up to work at their convenience for 3.5 hour shifts Monday through Friday from 10:00am-1:30pm or 1:30pm-5:00pm, and Saturday from 10:00am until 2:00pm. If you are interested in helping out please call Kathryn Nuechterlein at 989.652.6712 or Judy Kern at 989.652.2346.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
Prayer shawl ministry provides needed items that are crafted with care and prayer, including blankets, chemo hats, socks and mittens, hats for newborns and helmet liners for soldiers. As each item is created, the person stitching it says prayers for its recipient as they do the work; sometimes without knowing who it will eventually go to! The Prayer Shawl Ministry meets every Tuesday from 7-9 pm at The Rock to knit, crochet and have good conversation. Anyone interested in joining is welcome; and if you need to learn how to knit or crochet they are willing to teach you. For more information email Lois Miller or call her at 989.652.8018.
The principal purpose of Willing Workers is to share Jesus’ love through caring for others by assisting them in daily activities and/or needs. Specifically, Willing Workers provide help for individuals and non-profit organizations who are physically or financially unable to do maintenance or repairs as needed or have need of tasks requiring group assistance. Willing Workers get a sense of satisfaction from accomplishing the many tasks that are done each year in support of those in need. We are always looking for individuals with various skill sets such as carpentry, construction, electrical, plumbing, painting, wallpaper, drywall, etc. We can also use individuals who are willing to help with moving furniture and appliances, yard work, or general help on any project.
