Adults

At St. Lorenz, we offer a diverse range of small groups, support groups, and classes tailored for adults. Whether you’re seeking personal care, aiming to deepen your faith and understanding of the Bible, or looking for opportunities to serve, you’ll find a welcoming community here. These groups are where life transformation happens, and we want you to be a part of it! Join us and experience the joy of growing in faith and community alongside other adults.
Women's Ministry
The Women’s Ministry at St. Lorenz provides a wide range of opportunities for women to deepen their faith, serve their community, and build strong, supportive relationships. With regular gatherings that include prayer, Bible study, and fellowship, women can find spiritual growth and encouragement. There are also service projects and volunteer opportunities that allow women to make a tangible impact both locally and globally. Special events throughout the year offer times for reflection, celebration, and building connections with other women. Whether through ongoing programs or one-time events, the Women’s Ministry at St. Lorenz is dedicated to helping women grow in their faith and support each other in their spiritual journeys.

Lutheran Women in Mission (LWML)
The Lutheran Women in Mission have a passion for bringing the lost into eternal fellowship with our Lord Jesus by being obedient to His call for workers in the harvest field and offering our hands, feet, voice, and silver and gold to extend His Kingdom both at home and abroad. Any woman of confirmation age may join the LWML or come to our monthly meetings usually held every third Monday of the month. One of the easiest ways to help is to pick up a money collection box, called a mite box, in the LWML bookstore, located in the church basement and bring a full box back to the church office. A yearly brochure with a calendar of events is available at the church office or follow their Facebook page at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church LWML. For more information contact Andrea Dykman at 989-820-8200 or email.
LWML Retreats
Want to get away? No luggage, passport, or time off work is required for our Women’s Retreats. We get together for about three hours to share prayer, Bible study, to laugh and maybe sing a little—and our brunch buffet is a big hit! You’ll go home with some new Biblical insights and new/renewed friends. We love that women of all ages attend!
LWML Bookstore
Volunteers of the St. Lorenz LWML sell cards, books, Bibles, gifts, etc. to congregation members and visitors. The bookstore is conveniently located in the church basement. All proceeds go to missions through LWML mites. For more information call Sarah Kramer at 989-652-8912.
LWML Blanket Making
We make hundreds of quilts every year for Orphan Grain Train Sebewaing, Underground Railroad Saginaw, and Franklin Avenue Mission Flint, knowing that they will comfort someone we will never meet. Yes, blankets can be used for a cozy and clean new bed, but also for a baby carrier, a place upon which to sell goods in the marketplace, a sack in which to carry items, a sunshade, a shawl, and a reminder that somebody far away cares. If you can cut material and tie a knot, you can help us make blankets! For more information call Judy Laux at 989-652-6669.
WinGS - Women in God's Service
Women in God’s Service (WinGS) is a subgroup of the LWML that teaches young women about serving the Lord with gladness. This is accomplished through Bible studies and supporting various mission projects. There are many ways to get involved. You can work on projects from your home or serve alongside other women. To learn more about how you can get involved please contact Mary Beth Heikkinen at 586-484-5536.
Mom Co (MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers)
We believe in the simple but revolutionary idea that remarkable things happen when moms come together, face to face. That’s why we rally women to come together in their own neighborhoods and help each other through this thing called motherhood, one gathering at a time.
Our acronym stands for “Mothers of Preschoolers” because we began in 1973 when a group of moms of young children banded together to share their lives and parenting journeys. Over the past 45 years, MOPS has expanded our reach to include moms with older kids, partnering with churches and organizations worldwide to equip and encourage moms in more than 60 countries.
For more information about how to register, please contact Melissa Tebedo email or Danielle Kuhn email. For general information about MOPS visit website. To register for St. Lorenz MOPS, go to website and enter the code for the group you want to join.

Advent by Candlelight
Advent by Candlelight has become a well-loved tradition! Volunteer hostesses transform the lobby of the Worship & Event Center by setting festive banquet tables. The room is soon filled with women, lovely tables, and the glow of candles. After an hour-long program, we share a dessert and visit. This is a quiet and happy evening when we pause to remember that Jesus is born for us. The program is designed for ladies high-school age and older. You do not need to be a member of St. Lorenz to attend, or to host. It’s a free event; many ladies invite friends or family members. As a hostess, you set a banquet table (6-8 seats, including your seat) and provide a dessert for those at your table. You may do this on your own or share the responsibility (and fun) with a friend. You may invite ladies to sit at your table, or we’ll help fill the seats for you. Fancy tablecloth and crystal? Wonderful! Paper products and plastic silverware? That’s fine, too! Click on Hostess Guidelines for more details. You do not need to be a member of St. Lorenz to host. Thank You for volunteering; we appreciate your work!
This is a free event and we love to fill up seats! It has been our tradition to accept cash donations at the door for young adults in Bay County who have “aged out” of foster care. Many of these youth are struggling on their own to attend school, work, or set up a household. Your donations are used throughout the year for essentials. There is no obligation to donate. Contact Pam Fitzgerald, Advent by Candlelight Coordinator at 989-598-5226 or email.
