Our Commitment to Families

At St. Lorenz, we support families in nurturing their children’s spiritual growth and development through Christian education and community involvement. We understand the importance of providing a strong Christian foundation for children, especially in partnership with parents.

We believe parents play a vital role in guiding their children’s faith journey, and we are here to walk alongside you every step. At St. Lorenz, we offer a range of enriching programs and ministries tailored to meet the needs of children at different stages of their development.

Baptism at St. Lorenz

We believe that salvation comes by God’s grace alone through faith in Jesus Christ alone, with faith originating from hearing God’s Word (Rom. 10:17). Baptism, commanded by Jesus, is seen as a means of grace that, along with God’s Word, creates and strengthens faith (Matt. 28:19-20). This faith can begin at any age, including infancy, as the Bible indicates that infants can believe (Matt. 18:6) and experience regeneration through Baptism (John 3:5-7). Although infant faith cannot be verbally expressed, it is considered real and needs nurturing through God’s Word (Matt. 28:18-20). Faith can also arise in those who hear or read God’s Word, with Baptism following conversion to confirm and strengthen faith (Acts 8:26-40). While Baptism is not deemed absolutely necessary for salvation, as faith alone is essential (Mark 16:16), it should not be neglected as it is a powerful means of grace instituted by God.

Vacation Bible School (VBS)

VBS is an exciting experience for children ages pre-school through fifth grade that includes Bible study, crafts, snacks, physical activity, and the nature trail. To register a student for our 2025 camp, click here.

Girls of Grace

Girls of Grace is a Christian Dance Ministry within St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, dedicated to serving the Lord through worshipful, interpretive dance. This ministry began in 2002 and is made up of over ninety dancers from grade 4 through college. Each year, the dancers perform a concert for the community. We receive our directive and inspiration from Psalm 149:3. “Let them praise His Name with dancing!”

Guys for God is a Christian dance ministry open to guys grade 4 and up. They accompany the Girls of Grace for their annual concert.

Puppets for Christ

Puppets for Christ has been delighting audiences with puppet skits and songs since 1981, sharing the love of Jesus and His grace. Over 150 puppeteers have been part of this ministry, performing over 1450 presentations across Michigan and at St. Lorenz Church.
