CHILDREN'S MINISTRIES

St. Lorenz Lutheran School

There is no responsibility we have that is more important than raising our children in the knowledge of their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Puppen Für Christus

Puppen für Christus means Puppets for Christ in German. Our ministry team uses puppets to spread the Love of our Lord Jesus Christ, and His saving grace, through presentations of skits and songs. Our first presentation was in December of 1981. We have given over 41 years of service to our Lord Jesus Christ and His people. Each year we travel to churches all over Michigan, as well as Sunday School and children’s church here at St. Lorenz. We have had over 1450 presentations over the years.

Over 150 puppeteers have been a part of Puppets for Christ over the years, with membership lasting about 4-5 years. New members are able to join in Jr. High and usually after High School we do lose a few people to College. However, we have many current members that have been with us for more than 8 years, with some hitting the 20 year mark!!

We practice weekly for an hour and a half every Wednesday night and usually have a month or two off during the summer.

Our fearless director and leader, Mr. Terry Laubsch (TL), has stepped down as director after 39 years of relentless giving of his time. But don’t worry, the new leadership is under his watchful eye, as Terry has become “simply” a puppeteer. If you see him around town or at St. Lorenz please give him a thank you and congrats on creating, growing, and leading a unique God-filled ministry that kids have enjoyed for generations!

If you or your child would like to join our Puppet group please contact us. Puppeteers can join starting in 7th grade. Not only is the puppet group a fun, faith filled group of people to spend time with, but as a puppeteer it is highly fulfilling to see the smiles on kids and adults faces. Puppets offers an avenue for those wanting to be in the performing arts, while still being behind stage. It is also a great way for 7th and 8th graders to earn their service hours, which they need 6 of each semester. High-schoolers also need them for National Honors Society. If you would like to join us for a few practices to see if it is something you or your child would enjoy, please contact us.

Girls of Grace (GOG)

Girls of Grace is a Christian Dance Ministry within St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, dedicated to serving the Lord through worshipful, interpretive dance. This ministry began in 2002 and is made up of over ninety dancers from grade 4 through college. We receive our directive and inspiration from Psalm 149:3. “Let them praise His Name with dancing!”
